A review of The Cursed Sea Dark Tides by Candace Osmond
The Cursed Sea Dark Tides (Book 6) by Candace Osmond
"The sea. A timeless beast." p 104
Why does everything good have to come to an end?! This is the sixth book and the final book in the Dark Tides story and boy did this one hit with the emotions. A little overview of the series. We meet Dianna a cook who travels back home to Newfoundland for her father's funeral, once she begins to clear out her childhood home she finds a ship in a bottle and after dropping it and shattering the glass a wave crashes through her home and she is transported from modern-day to the 1700s. There she is taken aboard a ship with a devastating handsome Captain with ruthless eyes. Dianna is such a complete badass in every single book between her quick wit and bravery in the face of danger. We should all strive to be more like Dianna! Now this book specifically is about Dianna who is stuck in the past away from her family and her soul has been taken by menacing sirens. She must find a way back to her time before her humanity and emotions are gone forever. And who better to help with this than the notorious Davy Jones?
Now warning I will try to describe the feelings, themes, and overall vibe of the sixth novel without giving out too many spoilers but please be warned! And save this and come back once you consume this fantastic series! But this book for me was such a great ending, it really ties a nice bow on everything. One thing I loved was the new range of feelings and emotions that Dianna has to face now that she is without a soul. And of course, I loved Ben, who couldn't? But this story really drives home the idea of found family and how they would do anything to protect each other. This story is about what it means to have a soul had what lengths you'd go to save those you love. My only ugh moment was the end because I wanted a reunion but I really do love those last lines so I'm still in love! But I think I'll always want more from this gang of pirates.
Candace if you're reading this, can we get a story of the twins grown up?! I'd love to see how they deal with time and the see, and how they are grown up! haha, I'd also read your grocery list so you know! :)
Stand out quote:
"Life is a trap. The trick is figuring out how to escape in one piece." p 79
- Do you believe you are destined for one person?
- What does the soul hold? And what would it mean to be without one?
- Dianna deals with the complicated question of can a person love two people when it comes to Ben and Henry, do you think it's possible to love two people at the same time?
- Where do you see everyone (Lottie, Ben, Finn, etc) in say five years?
DO NOT FORGET TO CHECK OUT OSMOND'S OTHER SERIES KINGDOM OF SAND & STARS!
