Review of The Worst Best Man by Mia Sosa

THE WORST BEST MAN BY MIA SOSA

What a fun and honestly steamy rom-com to start this month off with! The Worst Best Man is the story of Lina Santos and Max Hartley a pair who could not be more different than the other. The story opens on the day of Lina's wedding to Andrew Hartley, you guessed it Max's older brother. But Andrew texts Max that morning, he can't go through with the wedding or marrying Lina. Flash forward to three years later Lina is a pretty successful wedding planner in the D.C area and is up for the job of her dreams but the only problem the people she needs to work with are Andrew and Max. This is your typical enemy to lover novel but with so much more heart!

What I liked about this novel is the district voices of both Max and Lina that Sosa writes. Max is a cursing mess most of the time and Lina is very Type A always in control of herself and her emotions. But the way Sosa is able to blend those personalities to make a connection is amazing. And okay let's talk about those steamy moments, boy oh boy those were just lovely to read! But all in all this book is amazing because it's about being open to love even when it's scary and risky to put yourself out there.

Stand out quote: "I can confidently say that I now control my emotions whereas in the past my emotions controlled me." p 142

Some questions to ponder:

  1. Do you think Lina gets the closure she is looking for in the end?
  2. What draws Max to Lina and what attracts Lina to Max?
  3. On page 193, Line explains the idea of the angry black woman, what are your thoughts on what she says and how Max processes it?
  4. How does Max open Lina up?

Thanks for stopping by!
