A Review of The Perfect Date by Evelyn Lozada with Holly Lorincz
The Perfect Date by Evelyn Lozada with Holly Lorincz
This was a fun read to start off the year! It was a spunky and sassy Romantic Comedy. Written by Basketball Wives' T.V personality Evelyn Lozada, the story follows Angel Gomez a young single mother, studying to be a nurse and trying to create a better life for herself and her seven-year-old son. Angel is such a relatable character in the way that she's who at least I would want to be when it comes to standing up for yourself and for those you love. She never puts up with crap from the men or from women she meets and she is brave when she needs to be. But while on shift at a clinic Angel meets Duke a pitcher for the Bronx Bolts who is a mess within himself. Recovering from an injury from a shooting that killed his friend and teammate a year before. They begin a fake relationship to help cover for Duke being at the clinic. What could possibly go wrong?
What I really liked about this novel was Angel's willingness to stand up for herself and the crazy spin of events that happens in only a few short days. This story is about control and how there is a balance between controlling everything and control nothing within your life. It's also about allowing yourself to enjoy life and not working yourself into the ground. Lastly, it's about not letting your passion change who you are at your core. I was surprised by the end and I think you will too!
Stand out Quote:
"She controlled how people perceived her. How she perceived herself." p. 103
- What would you do if a ballplayer asked you to pretend to be his girlfriend?
- Why does Angel agree to the deal?
- Do you think Angel forgives Duke to much and too quickly?
- How did you like the ending?
Thanks for stopping by!
