review of PARTY OF TWO BY JASMINE GUILLORY

PARTY OF TWO BY JASMINE GUILLORY

It should come as no surprise to anyone that I'm an absolute sucker for romance novels. So you should know I loved this book. I really enjoyed The Proposal back in 2018 and decided I'm going to make my way through all of these books now (perhaps out of order). But this was such a joy to read. Let me start with the fact that we need to normalize food as a love language because oh my gosh, the food and cake deliveries in this novel were everything! The thing I love about Guillory's novels now that I have read two is that they are love letters to Los Angeles and to California. Which as a Cali girl through and through I love! Guillory creates such a likable couple and I found myself smiling through most of the novel!

We begin immediately with an adorable meet-cute of Olivia Monroe a Lawyer who just moved to Los Angeles, and Maxwell Powell a US Senator. They're love blossoms quickly but not completely smoothly as they both want to different things from this. Max is a highly public senator and Olivia enjoys her privacy. It's destined to have some bumps but this is a romance novel after all. I loved the way Max wooed Olivia. And how even though it may be smarter to run for hills, neither of them could resist the way they felt.

Stand out quote:
"I've been sure about you since the moment I met you." pg. 186

Some questions to ponder:

  1. Could you see yourself dating someone so high profiled? Why or Why not?
  2. Who do you identify with more Max or Olivia when in a relationship?
  3. Why don't more men understand that food is a love language?

Thanks for stopping by!
