review of GET A LIFE, CHLOE BROWN
GET A LIFE, CHLOE BROWN BY TALIA HIBBERT
This is the book I needed right now. Is it the perfect RomCom? Well, it is pretty darn close! I really enjoyed this story so much and loved how Hibbert wrote these dynamic characters and love stories. The characters are relatable, hilarious, heartbreaking, and amazing and I would read ten more books about them. I'm an avid romcom reader and this story served it up beautifully. Everything from the witty and sassy banter, the overbearing family, and the adorable romance and self-love journey are absolutely worth reading. Plus Hibbert really knows how to tastefully add in some amazingly steamy scenes in this book! But I'd like to take this moment to say EVERYONE DESERVES A REDFORD MORGAN IN THEIR LIFE! (I literally wrote that in my notebook!) Also, can we have a vote to rename the novel Chloe Fucking Brown?
The book centers on... you guessed it Chloe Brown, a hardheaded web designer, who has closed herself off from the world (her family being the exemption) because of an illness she suffers from. But after a brush with death, she decides to take charge of her life and maybe hopeful get one. So she creates a list, of things she believes will help her get that life. Enter Redford "Red" Morgan, the sweet, kind, brooding, hilarious, bad boy with a heart of gold, (not enough words can describe this man) artist. He is the handyman in her apartment and eventually is enlisted to help Chloe knock off a few items off her list. The characters are so sarcastic and there are miscommunications left and right. You will be slow smiling (You know the smile I'm talking about) by the end of the book or your money back (whos giving this money I can not say, maybe the government?). Go pick this book up!!
Stand out quote:
"Some of us have so many marginalizations, we might drown if we let all the little hurts flood in. So there are those, like me, who filter. " P 195
Some questions to ponder:
- What motivates each character?
- If you had to build a list to create a better life for yourself what would be on it?
I CAN'T WAIT TO READ TAKE A HINT, DANI BROWN!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this book as much as I did!
