THE GOD OF SMALL THINGS BY ARUNDHATI ROY

I'm currently a third of the way through this gem. And let me tell you a little about this book and maybe you can read it with me! It is so incredibly detailed rich that at times you start to wonder do the characters even talk? The way Roy writes is completely breath-taking but I'm not going to lie to you, it's been hard to get into but the story itself compels you to keep reading. This is because Roy gives you little bits of information that can only be paid off if you finish the novel.

The story follows Rahel and Estha, a pair of twins from a wealthy Indian family and everything is changed with the arrival of their cousin Sophie Mol and after one faith day (BUT I'M NOt SURE I'LL EVER GET TO THAT FAITH DAY! )

My curiosity is keeping me intrigued enough. And honestly the writing as well, she truly does write in vividly beautiful formate. Here's one of my favorite quotes so far:

"Perhaps it's true that things can change in a day. That a few dozen hours can affect the outcome of whole lifetimes. And that when they do those few dozen hours, like the salvaged remains of a burned house - the charred clock, the singed photograph, the scorched furniture - must be resurrected from the ruins and examined. Preserved. Accounted for.
Little events, ordinary things, smashed and reconstituted. Imbued with new meaning. Suddenly they become the bleached bones of a story." Page 32

I mean as soon as I think, "maybe I'll read this book another time" Roy puts a section like that and I'm hooked all over again!

so there goes a partial review of my current read! stay tuned for the complete review soon!
